So how do you prepare? I’ve got three resources for you. This will be short and sweet.
1. Paysa. Paysa is great because it shows data from both users and companies. Like with any site that shows user-generated data, it may not always be 100% accurate but the fact that it also weaves in company-generated data makes this a go-to when wanting to understand salary ranges.
2. The Salary Project. I love what Career Contessa is doing with the Salary Project. Essentially Career Contessa has taken the salaries of hundreds of women across industries and cities to make understanding your worth more transparent.
3. Glassdoor. Glassdoor has been around for awhile and is another good go-to site to understand what employees are getting paid. It also shares company reviews which can be insightful when you’re trying to understand the company’s culture. More on that another time.
Like I said, short and sweet. I would recommend doing extensive research and checking out all of these sites so that you have a solid understanding of the salary ranges and potential bonus/equity/stock opportunities. They key is to be prepared and know what the market rate is for your role and industry.
